Andrew Long, a veteran of The Shakespeare Theatre and Signature Theatre, makes his Denver Center debut as the so-called "lump of foul deformity," Richard.

Performances play to Feb. 28 at DCTC's The Stage Theatre. Denver Center won the Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre.

Berger sets the play "in the bombed-out shell of a cathedral, a site of rituals," according to DCTC notes. "This setting symbolizes his belief that this culmination of Shakespeare's history plays is an exorcism — a purging of the war and evil that had overtaken England. The play follows the rise, reign and fall of King Richard III, a consummate villain — charming, daring, witty, and appealing — encased in a hideous form."

Long leads a large cast including David Manis as Edward IV and Henry VI, Kurt Rhodes as the Duke of Clarence, Kathleen M. Brady as the Duchess of York, Jeanne Paulsen as Queen Margaret, Nisi Sturgis as Lady Anne, Kathleen McCall as Queen Elizabeth, Robert Jason Jackson as Hastings, John Hutton as the Duke of Buckingham, Mike Hartman as Lord Stanley, Randy Moore as the Mayor of London and Philip Pleasants as the Bishop of Ely, with Benaiah Anderson, Sean Arbuckle, Bryce Baldwin, Mateo Correa, Drew Cortese, Christian Haines, Rob Hille, Mat Hostetler, Kate Hurster, Geoffrey Kent, Chris Maclean, Leigh Miller, Matt Mueller, Melissa Ortiz, Kathleen Wallace, Marcus Waterman and Stephen Weitz.
