The first-look deal with Ars Nova is part of NBC Universal's Talent Diversity Initiative, which seeks to broaden the talent pool and spectrum of work available to the network. Ars Nova will facilitate meetings between NBCU and the various performers who perform and create new work at the Off-Broadway venue. "Working in tandem with Ars Nova will expand our outreach to add new voices to our organic diversity campaign," said Kendra Carter, director of diversity initiatives, for NBC Universal. "This underscores our commitment to provide a full spectrum of opportunities for talented actors, writers, comedians and musicians who might not have a viable outlet for their work to be showcased."
Ars Nova programming includes the "Out Loud" play reading series, as well as the "Uncharted" music series, the playwrights "Play Group" and the alternative comedy series "Tragedy Tomorrow."
