Altanta's Alliance Theatre leads its 2000-2001 season with a new musical, a holiday classic and several comedies. Tickets for all shows are already on sale.

At a glance, the Alliance season comprises works on the 800-seat Alliance stage and the 200-seat Studio Stage.

Scheduled on the Alliance stage are a new Debbie Allen musical entitled Soul Possessed, with additional music by James Ingram and Arturo Sandoval; Eugene O'Neill's A Moon for the Misbegotten; David H. Bell's adaptation of Charles Dicken's A Christmas Carol; Moss Hart's Light Up the Sky; Rebecca Gillman's Spinning Into Butter; and Yasmina Reza's Art.

Scheduled for the Studio Stage are Donald Margulie's Pulitzer Prize winning Dinner With Friends; Willy Holtzman's Hearts; and David Rambo's God's Man in Texas.

Alliance's Children's Theatre will present Deborah Lynn Frockt's The Book of Ruth and J.R.R. Tolkien's The Hobbit, both on the Alliance Stage. Tickets range from $10-$45 and are also available in a variety of subscriptions packages at the Woodruff Arts Center Box Office, located on the corner of Peachtree St. and 15 St. in Atlanta.
