In 2001, Leslie Ayvazian read her High Dive at the Long Wharf Theatre in preparation for performances of the one-woman comedy at the Manhattan Class Company. In 2002, the Nine Armenians playwright returns to the Long Wharf for the Jan. 7 reading of her latest work, Opening Shot.
Rebecca Taichman (Yale Rep's upcoming Iphigenia at Aulis) directs the four-character play about a writer, who, while attempting to create a perfect opening, recalls the people of her past. Ayvazian won the Susan Smith Blackburn Award for Nine Armenians. Other plays include Plan Day, Deaf Day, Footlights and Twenty-Four Years.
Opening Shot features Hal Robinson (Father), Dolores Sutton (Rosemary), Isa Thomas (Elizabeth) and Janet Zarish (The Writer).
Tickets are $15. For reservations, call (203) 787-4282. The Long Wharf Theatre is on the web at http://www.longwharf.org.
