News Baltimore's Centerstage Cancels Production of Toni Morrison's Jazz Baltimore Centerstage artistic director Kwame Kwei-Armah announced Aug. 3 that the company's previously announced production of Toni Morrison's Jazz will not be part of the 2011-12 season.

Adapted by longtime Centerstage associate artist Marion McClinton, performances were scheduled for Jan. 4-Feb. 5, 2012.

"After a weeklong workshop in Minneapolis last week, it was decided the new play with music will require a longer development period than originally anticipated," according to a statement. Kwei-Armah said he expects the Baltimore company to be involved in the piece in the future.

A replacement for Jazz will be announced in the coming weeks.
