The cast will include Stephen Berger, Jen Brissman, Jake Epstein, Alicia Irving, Jeff Keller, Danny Kornfeld, Alli Mauzey, Bruce Sabbath, Steve Sterner, Barbara Tirrell and Jordon Zauha.
The score combines classic Yiddish melodies with new music by Artie Bressler. Lyrics are by Michael Colby, and the book is by Jennifer Berman, with additions by Michael Goldfried. Goldfried also directs; Gary Haberman is the musical director.
The First Family, according to press notes, "is the topsy-turvy tale a family that’s like the Barrymores of Yiddish Theatre. Their headliner is Joey Rose, who could be the next Al Jolson but who secretly longs to become a cantor." Previously titled Meester Amerika, this musical about 1920s Yiddish theatre received raves in its regional premiere at the Garage Theatre in Teaneck, NJ.
Casting is by Arnold J. Mungioli, and the general manager is Jamie Cesa.
