Pop music star Toni Braxton may be the next Belle in Broadway's Beauty and the Beast. A spokesman for Larry Blowstein, who reps Braxton at William Morris, confirmed a story first reported in Variety which stated that the singer had committed to Beauty. Meanwhile, show spokesperson Colleen Hughes said the Braxton booking was still "in discussions." There is no word on when she would enter the production or the length of her stay. The stage turn would mark Braxton's Broadway debut.

Beauty recently lost its star Belle when Deborah Gibson, another veteran of the pop charts, left the show on June 28. Kim Huber now essays the role. Huber was the understudy to the original Belle, Susan Egan, and comes to the show from the Beauty and the Beast touring company. Chuck Wagner co-stars as the Beast.

Braxton's hit songs include "Love Shoulda Brought You Home," "Unbreak My Heart," and "How Could an Angel Break My Heart."
