News Ben Hartley and Amanda Edge Will Open Broadway Arts Factory Educational Institution in September Ben Hartley (founder and artistic director) and Amanda Edge (executive director) have announced that Broadway Arts Factory, a triple-threat educational institution devoted to the training of musical theatre students between the ages of 11 and 18, will open in September.

Broadway Arts Factory will run every Saturday around the school calendar year. Faculty members will include innovative and creative educators in New York City who are members of the Broadway community and share a passion for arts education.

The company's goal is to "train and provide mentorship to the next generation of Broadway performers; our program parallels industry requirements where versatility is the key to success. We will inspire, inform, challenge, support and educate each and every student that steps foot in our classroom, helping them to fully realize their dream of one day being on the Broadway stage." BAF will look for dedicated students regardless of their monetary background; the sliding scale of program fees is based on the finances of each student's family.

Auditions for 2012-13 enrollment will be held June 3 and July 22 at DANY studios (305 West 38th Street) in New York City. Registration will begin at 10 AM. Dance auditions will be held from 10:30 AM-noon; voice auditions will be held from noon-1:30 PM; and acting auditions will be held from 1:30 PM-3 PM. Registration before auditions is required. To register, email [email protected] or call (917) 664-4783. If unable to attend a live audition, a DVD or URL link may be submitted.

Students should bring form-fitting dance clothes and either jazz shoes or dance sneakers as well as sheet music from a Broadway show. Be prepared to sing 32-64 bars and perform a monologue that is age appropriate.
