In an interview for ABC's The Year in Memoriam 2017, which airs December 18 at 10 PM ET, Bernadette Peters recalls her lengthy friendship with fellow actor Mary Tyler Moore, who passed away January 25.

Three-time Tony winner Peters and multiple Emmy winner Moore co-starred in the 1990 movie The Last Best Year and co-founded the pet adoption charity Broadway Barks, which celebrated its 19th annual Shubert Alley event this past summer.

At the time of Moore's death, Peters told Playbill, “She was a brilliant, sensitive, iconic actor and a precious friend to me. There are no words to describe how I cherished our friendship. I will miss her dearly.”

In the ABC program Peters spoke of her late friend's generosity: “Mary was always there for me… Mary was a very generous person… She actually gave me my wedding at her house.”

Peters will return to Broadway beginning January 20, 2018, in the title role of the Tony-winning revival of Hello, Dolly!
