Cabaret & Concert News Bernadette Peters Will Sing with the Pops in Chicago March 31 The Tony Award winner makes her Auditorium Theatre debut.

Bernadette Peters, a Tony Award winner for her performances in Song and Dance and Annie Get Your Gun, will make her Auditorium Theatre debut March 31 in Chicago.

The 7:30 PM performance marks her first Chicago appearance in over ten years. She will be joined by the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra for a mixed program that features a tribute to George Gershwin and a medley of Broadway hits and classics.

According to the Auditorium, the Pops, led by conductor Keith Lockhart, will offer the world premiere of a reconstruction of Paul Whiteman’s jazzy version of Gershwin’s An American in Paris, in addition to a rarely heard original orchestration of Rhapsody in Blue. The second half of the program will feature Peters singing a variety of Broadway hits and American classics.

Peters is also the recipient of the 2012 Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award. She has been Tony nominated for her performances in On the Town, Mack & Mabel, Sunday in the Park with George, The Goodbye Girl, and Gypsy.
