News Betsy Morgan Plays "Mrs. Anna" in The King and I for 3 Performances Starting Today Tony winner Kelli O'Hara is taking off three performances from The King and I Sept. 3-5 (matinee). Her standby, Betsy Morgan, plays Anna Leonowens in her absence.

According to press representatives, the absence was pre-arranged. She is expected to return to the show Saturday evening, Sept. 5.

The King and I, which won the 2015 Tony Award for Best Revival, is currently playing the Vivian Beaumont Theater, following an official opening on April 16. Featuring music by Richard Rodgers and book and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, the Bartlett Sher-directed production also features Jose Llana and fellow Tony winner Ruthie Ann Miles

The story follows schoolteacher Anna Leonowens (O'Hara) who travels from England to Siam to serve as governess to the king's many children.
