The new Broadway musical based on August's 1998 novel about a father and son opened on Broadway Oct. 6 starring Norbert Leo Butz (Catch Me If You Can, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) in the central role of Edward Bloom. August, who penned the 2003 film adaptation, is also the book writer of the Broadway musical, which has music and lyrics by Tony Award nominee Lippa (The Wild Party, The Addams Family).

Five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (The Producers, Contact, Show Boat, Crazy for You) directs and choreographs the musical that is studded with show-stopping dance sequences and arresting visual design. Read the reviews of Big Fish here. (The production will end its run Dec. 29.)

The 7:30 PM conversation at the 92nd Street Y includes Lippa, Wallace, August and Stroman, cast members Kate Baldwin (Sandra Bloom) and Bobby Steggert (Will Bloom), as well as producers Bruce Cohen and Dan Jinks, who produced the 2003 film and the current Broadway musical adaptation. Debra Monk moderates.

The evening promises a discussion of Big Fish's journey from novel to Broadway musical, with performances from Tony nominees Baldwin and Steggert accompanied by Lippa.

Big Fish, according to press notes, "centers on Edward Bloom, a traveling salesman who lives life to its fullest… and then some! Edward's incredible, larger-than-life stories thrill everyone around him – most of all, his devoted wife Sandra. But their son Will, about to have a child of his own, is determined to find the truth behind his father’s epic tales. Big Fish is about dreaming, loving and living bigger."
