News Blood, Sweat and Felt: Broadway's Avenue Q Offers "One Night Stand" for Puppet Hopefuls
Aspiring puppets now have a shot at their big break as Avenue Q offers a "One Night Stand" contest on Broadway.

"What if there was a 'One Night' vacancy on Avenue Q?," poses the new sweepstake competition. "Does your puppet have what it takes to join the famous cast of characters?"

To take part in the challenge, contestants are asked to create a puppet, take a photo of it (.jpg or .gif, at least 400 pixels wide or tall) and send it attached via an email (to along with your "Puppet Profile" which consists of answers your puppet would provide to the following:

1. Your name
2. Your age
3. What do you do for a living?
4. What's the latest music your downloaded onto your iPod?
5. What do you like to read?
6. What's the next movie you want to see?
7. Who is your greatest inspiration?
8. What's your favorite meal?
9. Why should Gary Coleman select YOU to win a ONE NIGHT stand on Avenue Q?

The winner (and a guest) will receive a trip to New York (includes airfare and a two night stay at the Times Square Renaissance Hotel), dinner at a famous Times Square Restaurant, tickets to see Avenue Q on Broadway and a backstage pass so that your puppet may meet the cast.

The top 10 puppet pictures and profiles will be posted on the show's website, where visitors of the "Qmmunity" may vote (from Dec. 1-Jan. 15, 2006) to determine the winner. Entries must be received by Nov. 30. Incomplete entries will be voided. The winner will be announced Feb. 1, 2006 and the prize will be rewarded in March, 2006. Rick Lyon — the original Broadway cast member who can currently be seen in the Las Vegas production — created the puppets seen in the show as well as the many celebrity recreations used in promotions.
