PlayBlog Book of Mormon's Casey Nicholaw Talks Directing (Video) Casey Nicholaw, co-director, choreographer and Tony nominee for The Book of Mormon, talks about switching from performing to directing on "Theater Talk."

The Book of Mormon, the musical with the most Tony nominations this season, officially opened on Broadway at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre March 24 and stars Andrew Rannells (Jersey Boys) and Josh Gad ("The Daily Show with Jon Stewart") as an unlikely pair of Mormon missionaries.

Mormon, by Emmy Award-winning “South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and Avenue Q Tony Award winner Robert Lopez, follows the two Mormons as they venture from Salt Lake City to AIDS-ravaged Uganda in the hopes of converting villagers with the story of Joseph Smith and the founding of the Mormon Church. The problem is only one of them has actually read the book.

Nicholaw, now a Tony nominee, explains that when he first made the switch to director, he had to spend all of his money to "be creative."
