News Brassard Solo Play Jimmy Begins PS 122 Run May 27 Marie Brassard's dream-tinged solo play Jimmy, a tale of a time-stranded hairdresser, begins performances at Performance Space 122 May 27.

Actress, writer and director Brassard performs the work that premiered in the 2001 Festival de Theatre des Ameriques and will run through June 14 at the downtown venue.

Press notes for Jimmy ask, "Have you ever had a dream where you were on the verge of having an orgasm? Jimmy, the homosexual hairdresser was born in the dream of an American general in the fifties. As he is about to kiss his lover in the dream, the general dies, leaving the two in a no man's land, in a state of pure pleasure. After staying suspended in time for fifty years, Jimmy starts to live again, but to his despair, trapped in the dreams of a Montreal actress."

The PS 122 engagement is co-produced by Infrarouge and the Festival de Theatre des Ameriques.

Brassard's works also include The Invisible, The Glass Eye, The Darkness, Peepshow and Geometry of Miracles. The playwright and performer also serves as co-artistic director of Infrarouge.
