News Broadway Backwards 5 Raises Nearly 200K for BC/EFA Broadway Backwards 5 — the annual concert featuring male singers performing songs traditionally sung by women and women singing tunes written for men — raised a record-breaking $186,780 to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center.

The Feb. 22 concert at the Vivian Beaumont Theater bested the amount raised by the 2009 fundraiser, which brought in $158,306. Stage and screen star Florence Henderson — best known for her role as TV mom Carol Brady on "The Brady Bunch" — hosted the starry evening, which was directed by Robert Bartley with musical direction by Wayne Barker.
