News Broadway Will Dim Its Lights Aug. 8 in Memory of Marvin Hamlisch The marquees of Broadway theatres in New York will be dimmed Aug. 8 at 8 PM for one minute in memory of Tony winner Marvin Hamlisch, the celebrated composer, performer, arranger, musical coordinator, orchestrator and musical supervisor, who passed away Aug. 6 at age 68.

Charlotte St. Martin, executive director of The Broadway League, said in a statement, "Marvin Hamlisch’s accomplishments in the theatre and film worlds are legendary. He left an everlasting mark with the groundbreaking A Chorus Line, one of my personal favorites. His legacy leaves us with a treasury of songs and stories that will always be familiar to theatregoers as they stir up meaningful and heartfelt emotions. Our thoughts go out to his family, friends, and fans everywhere."
