News Callaway and the Diva Jazz Orchestra Swing at the Blue Note Jan. 3-8 Former Swing! star Ann Hampton Callaway begins a limited engagement at the Blue Note Jazz Club Jan. 3.

Callaway, backed by the Diva Jazz Orchestra, will preview songs from her forthcoming CD on the Telarc International label, “Blues in the Night.” Cabaretgoers can expect to hear the singer's renditions of “The Glory of Love,” “Time After Time,” “Lover, Come Back to Me” and her original tune, “Swinging Away the Blues.” (“Blues in the Night,” Callaway’s first recording for Telarc, is due in stores in May.) Not only a singer, Ann Hampton Callaway is also an acclaimed songwriter, whose works have been performed by Barbra Streisand, Patti LuPone and dozens of others. For her Broadway debut in Swing!, Callaway garnered a Tony nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical, and her many recordings include "Ann Hampton Callaway," "Bring Back Romance," "To Ella with Love" and "After Ours." Callaway is also a recipient of 14 Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) Awards.

Callaway will play the Blue Note — 131 West 3rd Street — through Jan. 8. Show times are 8 and 10:30 PM. There is a $25 cover charge at tables and a $15 cover at the bar. For reservations call (212) 475-8952.
