Carrie: The Musical to Receive London Premiere | Playbill

News Carrie: The Musical to Receive London Premiere Carrie: the Musical, which premiered under the auspices of the Royal Shakespeare Company at Stratford-upon-Avon in 1988 before going on to a short-lived Broadway run, is to receive its London premiere, beginning performances May 1 prior to an official opening May 6, for a run through May 30.

Presented by Paul Taylor-Mills Ltd. by arrangement with Bill Kenwright Ltd., it will be directed by Gary Lloyd, who is the director and choreographer of the West End's long-running Thriller Live.

This production is presented in the 2012 Off-Broadway version of the show as revised by composer Michael Gore, lyricist Dean Pitchford and librettist Lawrence D. Cohen.

According to press materials, they have transformed Stephen King's unlikely Cinderella story into an infectiously modern musical. It follows a taunted and terrified 17-year-old misfit, Carrie White who has a burning secret... a secret that will eventually ignite her revenge.

Casting is still to be announced.
