LOS ANGELES -- Playwrights' Arena and Fabulous Monsters will co-produce the world premiere of Robert Harders' The Demented Slave of Love at the McCadden Place Theatre. The play opens Nov. 7 and runs through Dec. 20.
Harders' work is a "romp through the desert sands of 10th century Arabia as two supernatural creatures with magical powers bring together two sleeping mortals," said a company spokesperson. "It is an exploration of the redemptive power of love."
Harders was an Associate Director/Playwright-In-Residence at the Los Angeles Theatre Center. He directed Donald Freed's Secret Honor in Los Angeles and New York, and received associate director's credit for his collaboration with Robert Altman on the film version.
Robert Prior, founder of the 4-year-old Fabulous Monsters, directs a cast that includes Tim Bennett, Bill Callaway, Richard Fox, Richard Gallegos, Candice Reid, Diane Robinson, Gabriel Romero and Bennett Schneider.
