News Casting Announced for New Donmar-Produced The Dance of Death at London's Trafalgar Studios Casting has been announced for a new production of Strindberg's The Dance of Death, being produced as part of the Donmar Trafalgar season at London's Trafalgar Studios 2, which begins performances Dec. 13 prior to an official opening Dec. 17, for a run through Jan. 5, 2013.

Daniel Lapaine, Kevin R. McNally and Indira Varma will appear under the direction of Titas Halder, a recent resident assistant director at the Donmar, where he worked on King Lear, Passion, The Prince of Homburg, The Late Middle Classes and Polar Bears. The Donmar Trafalgar season affords those who have graduated through the resident assistant director scheme to direct their own productions under the Donmar banner. "On an isolated island, Military captain Edgar (McNally) and his wife, Alice (Varma), live a bitter life, their marriage soured by hatred. When the possibility of redemption and escape arrives for Alice in the shape of their former friend Kurt (Lapaine), it seems that Edgar is prepared to use his very last breath to make their lives a living hell," according to press notes. The play is presented in a new version by Conor McPherson.

Lapaine was most recently seen in Hedda Gabler at the Old Vic. McNally’s previous work for the Donmar includes Hamlet, Ivanov (both Donmar West End) and World Music. Varma's previous work for the Donmar includes Twelfth Night (Donmar West End), The Vortex and Privates on Parade.
