News Casting Announced for PA World Premiere of When January Feels Like Summer Cultures will collide at Pittsburgh's City Theatre in the world premiere of Cori Thomas' When January Feels Like Summer March 20-April 11.

Casting for this "collision of African-American, Indian-American and transgender communities" was announced on Feb. 18. Chuck Patterson will direct a cast that includes John Marshall Jones (Joe), Gita Reddy (Nirmala), Carter Redwood (Jeron), Joshua Elijah Reese (Devaun), and Debargo Sanyal (Ishan).

When January Feels Like Summer was developed at both City Theatre's Momentum '08 Festival and the 2008 Sundance Institute Theatre Lab. Here's how City Theatre bills the show: "Hindi goes hip-hop, homeboys become heroes, a gallant garbage man rescues a shopkeeper in distress and Ishan transforms into Indira with the swipe of a lipstick. Unexpected love heats up the new year as African-American, Indian-American and transgender cultures collide in this comic whirlwind."

Opening night is March 26. Performances play City Theatre's Main Stage.

The design team includes Anne Mundell (scenic), Ange Vesco (costume), Allen Hahn (lighting) and Rob Kalpowitz (sound).

City Theatre is at 1300 Bingham Street on Pittsburgh's South Side. Tickets and information are available at (412) 431-CITY (2489) or CityTheatreCompany.org.
