Creative Arts Team (CAT), a non-profit educational theatre company, will present three performances of Our True Colors on July 12 and 13.
Born in response to the tragic events of Sept. 11, Our True Colors is a dramatic tapestry of reactions experienced by high school students throughout the City of New York. Public school students from all five boroughs of New York came together at New York University's Creative Arts Team to create this piece of theatre that uses the American flag "as a metaphor to explore the true nature of humans: our true colors."
CAT recruits high school students each year to participate in this free drama program in which youngsters are admitted on a first-come, first serve basis. Director Helen White then works with the students, who write and perform an original theatrical piece.
Our True Colors will be performed at NYU's Schubert Theatre (721 Broadway) on July 12 at 7:30 PM and July 13 at 2 and 7:30 PM. Tickets are priced at $10 and can be purchased by calling (212) 998-7339.
