News Cate Blanchett and Ralph Fiennes to Be Honored by New York Film Festival The New York Film Festival will honor award-winning actors Cate Blanchett and Ralph Fiennes.

Blanchett will be honored Oct. 2, and Fiennes will be honored Oct. 9.

Blanchett won the Oscar for her role in "The Aviator" and has been nominated for three additional Academy Awards. Her film credits include "Blue Jasmine," "Elizabeth," "The Lord of the Rings," "Babel," "Notes on a Scandal" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button."

Most recently seen in New York in Uncle Vanya, Blanchett's stage work includes Oleanna, A Streetcar Named Desire, Hedda Gabler and The Seagull. Blanchett and her husband Andrew Upton are currently artistic directors of the Sydney Theatre Company.

Tony winner and two-time Oscar nominee Fiennes has performed in Faith Healer and Hamlet. His stage work also includes God of Carnage, Coriolanus, King Lear and Much Ado About Nothing. His film credits include "Schindler’s List," "The English Patient," "Red Dragon," "The Constant Gardener," "The Hurt Locker" and the "Harry Potter" film series. Fiennes' new film, "The Invisible Woman," will be presented at this year's New York Film Festival.

Blanchett and Fiennes (who starred together in the 1997 romantic drama "Oscar and Lucinda") are among the artists "who have made significant artistic contributions to film culture in the past and will continue to do so in the future," the Film Society said in a statement.
