Gonon is a recent graduate of Brown University, where he developed Tramp(ed) as his senior thesis. This latest presentation is a revised draft of the piece, about a young man who transforms into Charlie Chaplin and experiences the life of the silent film star. "Chaplin's little known political activism finally comes to a head as World War II breaks out, forcing Charlie to make a decision: please the crowd or take a stand," according to production notes. Tramp(ed) is one of 100 solo productions selected from "the world's largest and competitive" festival of solo works. The fest features local and international productions including "a myriad of iterations of solo performance, from puppetry to stand-up to drama."
Theatre Row located at 410 W. 42nd Street. Tickets for the show are $18 (general admission). Tickets are available at the Theatre Row Box Office and through Telecharge.com at (212) 239-6200.
