CSO spokeswoman Synneve Carlino declined to comment, citing a news blackout, but said, "We are continuing to work hard with our mediator [former federal judge Abner Mikva] and our musicians to resolve our contract prior to the deadline. All plans are moving ahead for concerts next week as scheduled."
The CSO is scheduled to appear with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago from November 4 through 6, and to perform a program of Mozart and Shostakovich the following weekend.
The Cleveland Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra are also playing under contract extensions that expire on October 31.
