Ricci will succeed original cast member Alicia Silverstone, who created the role of Mandy. Previous commitments preclude Silverstone from reprising her performance in the fall. Returning for the production are original Broadway cast members Laura Linney, Brian d'Arcy James and Eric Bogosian.
Daniel Sullivan will restage the production that will play a Shubert house to be announced. Time Stands Still, which centers on a couple attempting to return to normalcy after documenting the ravages of war in the Middle East, played a limited Broadway run from Jan. 28-March 27 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.
The initial Broadway run resulted in Tony Award nominations for Best Play and Best Actress (Laura Linney).
The hiatus in the performance schedule allows Linney to fulfill commitments to the shooting schedule for her new Showtime Series "The Big C." Tickets for the return engagement will go on May 31.
Ricci is well known for her roles on screen in "The Addams Family," "Sleepy Hollow," "Casper," "Mermaids, "Monster," "The Ice Storm" and "The Opposite of Sex." *
In Time Stands Still, according to producers, "Sarah and James, a photographer and a journalist (Laura Linney and Brian d’Arcy James), have been together for years and share a passion for documenting the realities of war. But when circumstances compel them to return home to New York and their circle of friends (Eric Bogosian) the adventurous couple confronts the prospect of a more conventional life."
The transfer will be produced by Manhattan Theatre Club Productions, Inc. (Lynne Meadow, Artistic Director; Barry Grove Executive Producer), Nelle Nugent, Bud Martin, Ted Snowden and Wendy Federman.
The creative team includes John Lee Beatty (scenic design), Rita Ryack (costume design), Peter Kaczorowski (lighting design), Darron L West (sound design), Peter Golub (original music) and Thomas Schall (fight direction).
Tickets will be available by visiting Telecharge or by calling (212) 239-6200 or (800) 432-7250.
