Swenson appears as Rosina in a production of The Barber of Seville (June 23 and 25) imported from the Lyric of Opera of Chicago and directed by John Copley, with sets by John Conklin. The production also stars Jorge Lopez-Yanes as Almaviva and Dalibor Jenis as Figaro.
Graves' appearance, which had been previously announced, is in the title role of the new Richard Danielpour-Toni Morrison opera Margaret Garner (July 14, 16, and 22). The opera, based on a true story about a runaway slave, also stars Rodney Gilfry, Gregg Baker, and Angela M. Brown.
The season also includes a production of La bohme (June 16, 18, and 24) with Laquita Mitchell and Kip Wilborn as MimÐ and Rodolfo. Nancy Allen Lundy is Musetta, and Richard Zeller sings Marcello. Finally, the company stages Rigoletto (July 21 and 23) with Frank Lopardo as the Duke of Mantua, Dina Kuznetsova as Gilda, and Andrzej Dobber, making his American debut, in the title role.
