Mexican puppet troupe, Teatro Tinglado returns to New York with a limited engagement of their 1996 The Repugnant Story of Clotario Demoniax, by Hugo Hiriart, appearing at Downtown's P.S. 122 , Oct. 6 - 11. Clotario centers on the title character, who murders his best friend, Juanito, during a mountain climbing expedition so that he may marry Juanito's fiancee, Marcelina. At the funeral, Clotario tells Marcelina that her husband's dying wish was for her to marry Clotario. On their wedding night, Clotario is forced to tell Marcelina one story for each item of clothing she's to take off. In telling the stories, Clotario accidentally conmjures up a volatile genie who steals his bride away -- with Clotario devising various schemes to be reunited with his new bride.
