News Color and Light, Again: PS Classics Will Record London Sunday in the Park PS Classics will record the cast album of the new, acclaimed London production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's musical Sunday in the Park With George prior to the show's move to the West End.

The production, currently playing at The Menier Chocolate Factory, will be moving to Wyndham's Theatre in the West End beginning May 13 toward a May 23 opening night.

PS Classics co-founder Tommy Krasker, who has overseen eight previous Sondheim cast albums, will produce the disc, to be recorded in London March 6-7. It's the first London cast album for the American label, and will mark only the second time the 1984 Sondheim score has been preserved on disc.

PS Classics is distributed exclusively by Image Entertainment, whose releases include the DVD of the original Broadway production of Sunday, the unique musical exploration of the passion of artists.

Olivier Award-winner Daniel Evans (for Merrily We Roll Along at Donmar Warehouse) stars as George and 2006 Olivier Award-nominee Jenna Russell (currently starring in the West End hit Guys and Dolls) will be Dot at Wyndham's Theatre. Both will be heard on the CD, although Russell will first appear in the production when it plays the West End.

This new production of Sunday in the Park With George is directed by Sam Buntrock (who also directed the award-winning London revival of Assassins) and designed by David Farley with projection design by Timothy Bird. The staging won the 2006 Critics' Circle Drama Award for Best Design; the Best Off-West End Production in this year's Theatregoer's Choice awards; and has been nominated for Best Musical in the Time Out Live Awards. In early January, The Menier Chocolate Factory announced that its highly acclaimed production of Sunday in the Park With George would extend its sold-out run for three weeks until March 12. All performances sold out in 48 hours.

The production's design recreates the world of Georges Seurat's masterpiece "Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte" with the use of new projection and animation technology. The Menier Chocolate Factory production is presented in the West End by Broadway producer Boyett Ostar, David Babani & Danielle Tarento for Chocolate Factory Productions, Caro Newling for Neal Street Productions and Mark Rubinstein. This team has been supported by Cameron Mackintosh in his capacity as the new owner of Wyndham's Theatre.
