News Connell and Polendo's A Play on War to Premiere Off-Broadway The National Asian American Theatre Company will present the world premiere of Jenny Connell and Rubén Polendo's A Play on War Off-Broadway beginning Feb. 12.

Co-author Polendo will helm the play, which was inspired by Brecht's Mother Courage and Her Children. Opening is Feb. 16 and performances will continue through March 6 at the Connelly Theater.

A Play on War will feature Mia Katigbak, Jon Norman Schneider, Nikki Calonge, Orville Mendoza, Marcus Ho, Brian Hirono, Nathan Elam and Bushra Laskar.

The production, according to press notes, "incorporates abstractions of musical theatre, Arabic clowning, and Peking opera to create a new ferocious comedy about a war-torn landscape populated by characters on bicycles, all desperate to survive."

The creative team includes Justin Nestor (set design), Kate Ashton (lighting design), Candida K. Nichols (costume design), with original compositions and live music by Adam Cochran.
