News Crunch to Host Signing with Rent's Rapp
Anthony Rapp will be on hand for an autograph signing Nov. 15 at Crunch Fitness.

The fitness center, located at 404 Lafayette Street, will host the event from 6-7:30 PM. Rapp, who will be seen in the upcoming "Rent" film, has also recorded a new CD, which is titled "Look Around." The Crunch evening — open to both Crunch members and non-members — will also feature a chance to win two tickets to the "Rent" premiere on Nov. 17. Anthony Rapp created the role of Mark Cohen in the Broadway and London productions of Rent. His other theatrical credits include Hedwig and the Angry Inch; You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown; Precious Sons; Six Degrees of Separation; Bright Lights, Big City; Raised in Captivity; Trafficking in Broken Hearts; Youth Is Wasted; Sophistry; and The Destiny of Me. Rapp's film credits feature roles in "A Beautiful Mind," "Adventures in Babysitting," "School Ties," "Dazed and Confused" and "Six Degrees of Separation."

The "Rent" film, which is due for a national release Nov. 23, boasts many of the stars of the original Broadway production. Those reprising their roles for the film, which features a screenplay by director Columbus and Stephen Chbosky, include Rapp (as Mark Cohen), Taye Diggs (as Benjamin "Benny" Coffin III), Wilson Jermaine Heredia (as Angel Schunard), Jesse L. Martin (as Thomas B. "Thom" Collins), Idina Menzel (as Maureen Johnson) and Adam Pascal (as Roger Davis). Newcomers include Rosario Dawson as Mimi with Tracie Thoms as Joanne Jefferson. The roles of Mimi and Joanne were created on Broadway by, respectively, Daphne Rubin-Vega and Fredi Walker.
