The Classic Stage Company (CSC) benefit starring Academy Award winner Kevin Kline and Tony Award-winner Roger Rees has been selling well, production sources tell Playbill On-Line. The event was approaching a sell-out.
As reported earlier, Kline and Rees perform an evening of Shakespeare at Off-Broadway's Classic Stage Company (CSC) on May 1 under the theme "Two Gentlemen From 13th Street."
The CSC benefit event begins with cocktails at 6:30 PM at the CSC theater. At 7:30 PM, Kline and Rees will perform a "program of Shakespeare's monologues, scenes and sonnets" directed by Classic Stage Company artistic director Barry Edelstein.
A post-performance discussion with the actors will be moderated by Edelstein, production sources said. After the performances, an 8:30 PM dinner is scheduled at Serafina, which is located at 393 Lafayette Street.
Now in its 32nd season, CSC is an award-winning Off-Broadway theatre run by producing director Beth Emelson and artistic director Barry Edelstein. It's mission is to "re-imagine classics for contemporary American audiences." Tickets for the cocktail reception and the performance are $125 per person; and $250 which includes dinner with members of the cast and Classic Stage Company friends. CSC is located at 136 East 13th Street. For benefit information and tickets call Beth Emelson at (212) 677-4210 ext. 14.
