LA MIRADA, CA -- Irish dancing continues in the southland. Following on the heels of Riverdance closing at the Pantages May 17, comes Dancing at Lughnasa, which just opened at the La Mirada Playhouse starring Jamison Jones, Michelle Duffy, Cynthia Mace and Jefrey Alan Chandler.
Brian Friel's play, which deals with five unmarried sisters eking out their lives in a small Irish village circa 1936, involves the festival of Lughnasa, which celebrates the pagan god of the harvest with revelry and dancing.
The McCoy Rigby Entertainment Company's production was directed by Jessica Kubzansky, with choreography by Kay Cole and costumes by Zoe DuFour.
At the La Mirada Theatre, 14900 La Mirada Blvd., through May 10. Perfs. are Tues.-Sat. at 8 PM; Sun. at 7.30 PM; Sat. & Sun. matinees at 2.30 PM. Tickets are $33. Call (562) 944-9801.
