The play marks a return to acting for Glaudini, whose recent work as a playwright includes A View From 151st Street and Jack Goes Boating. Corrigan is known for his work in "Damages," "Superbad" and "Pineapple Express."

Mark Wing-Davey stages the Labyrinth Theater Company production that features Corrigan and Glaudini as "a prodigal son and grieving father" in 1986 South Philadelphia. Previews began April 5.

Here's how the play is billed: "An Italian-American family gathers to mourn a departed matriarch. Old questions of loyalty and legacy, love and loss, cast a shadow across three generations as they are forced to confront a violent past and an uncertain future..."

The cast also includes Dominic Fumusa ("Nurse Jackie," Take Me Out), Rosal Colón (A Free Man of Color) and young actor Samuel Mercedes.

Labyrinth co-artistic director Mimi O'Donnell renders costume designs for Ninth and Joanie, which has set design by David Meyer, lighting design by Bradley King and sound design by Zack Brown.
