SAN DIEGO -- Neal Bell's Ready for the River, a dark comedy about a mother and daughter on the run from a gruesome murder, opens Feb. 26 at the Fritz Theatre. Set in 1980, Ready for the River is "a searing journey into America's heartland," said a company spokesperson. "It beats on the brain with a message of despair and horror at what has happened to the American dream."
The director is Christina Courtenay; the cast includes DeAnna Driscoll, Melani Lea Manella, Bryan Bevell and Tom Liles.
The play is scheduled to run through Mar. 29. Performances are Thu.-Sat. at 8 PM and Sun. at 7 PM at the Fritz Theatre, 420 Third Ave. For tickets, $10-$15, call (619) 233- 7505.
