News David Bedella and Victoria Hamilton-Barritt Among Now-Complete Cast of London Premiere of In the Heights Full casting has been announced for the London premiere of In the Heights, the 2008 Tony Award winner for Best Musical that also won its composer, Lin-Manuel Miranda, the Tony for Best Original Score. Performances will begin at Southwark Playhouse May 9 prior to an official opening May 15, for a run through June 7.

It is at Southwark Playhouse that the Broadway-bound new production of Titanic originated last summer.

The cast includes David Bedella as Kevin and Victoria Hamilton-Barritt as Daniela as well as Nathan Amzi as Piragua Guy, Josie Benson as Camilla, Damian Buhagiar as Sonny, Emma Kingston as Vanessa, Jonny Labey as Graffitti Pete, Sam Mackay as Usnavi, Christina Modestou as Nina, Sarah Naudi as Carla, Eve Polycarpou as Abuela and Wayne Robinson as Benny.

Bedella is best known for his Olivier Award-winning performance as Satan in the original National Theatre production of Jerry Springer the Opera. Other recent credits include Putting It Together (St. James Theatre), Torch Song Trilogy and Road Show (both Menier Chocolate Factory), Chicago (Cambridge Theatre) and The Rocky Horror Show (Playhouse Theatre).

Hamilton-Barritt recently starred as Diana in A Chorus Line at the London Palladium. Other recent credits include Gypsy Rose Lee in Gypsy (Leicester Curve), Alex in Flashdance (Shaftesbury Theatre) and Rizzo in Grease (Piccadilly Theatre).

Also in the cast are Courtney-Mae Briggs, Reiss Hinds, Holly James and Dex Lee.

The production is directed by Luke Sheppard, with choreography by Drew McOnie. Musical supervision is by Tom Deering, design is by takis, costume design by Gabriella Slade, lighting design by Howard Hudson and sound design by Gareth Owen. Casting is by Will Burton.

The London premiere is produced by Runaway Entertainment Ltd. and Paul Taylor Mills Ltd., and presented by arrangement with R&H Theatricals Europe.
