Produced by Hampstead Theatre and Old Vic Productions, Jonathan Kent's production will transfer with original cast members including Imelda Staunton and Lloyd Owen.

In a press statement, Edward Hall, Hampstead Theatre artistic director said, "I am utterly delighted that Good People is having this very well-deserved West End run: it’s a truly brilliant play beautifully directed, and the cast are astonishingly good in it. It was sold out at Hampstead before those really great reviews appeared, so it’s especially pleasing that so many people who would otherwise have been disappointed will now have a chance to catch it."

The play, which premiered at Broadway's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre in 2011 under the auspices of Manhattan Theatre Club, where it was a nominee for the Tony Award for Best Play, revolves around a sharp-tongued single-mother Margie (Staunton), who will do anything it takes to pay the bills after losing yet another job. Hearing that an old boyfriend (Owen) who has made good is in town, she decides to corner him – old loyalties should be good for something.

Staunton was most recently on stage in Circle Mirror Transformation (Royal Court), as Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd (at Chichester Festival Theatre, then the West End's Adelphi Theatre, for which she won the Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical), A Delicate Balance (at the Almeida Theatre) and Entertaining Mr. Sloane (Trafalgar Studios). Film credits includes "Pride," "Maleficent," "The Awakening," "Another Year," "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows" and "Vera Drake" (for which she was Oscar-nominated). TV credits include "The Girl," for which she was nominated for Emmy and Bafta Awards, "Psychoville" and "Cranford Chronicles."

She has recently been announced to star as Mama Rose in Gypsy, also directed by Kent, at Chichester Festival Theatre from Oct. 6, prior to an official opening Oct. 14. Owen was last seen onstage in the original West End cast of The Bodyguard opposite Heather Headley. Other stage credits include Blood and Gifts at the National Theatre and Loyalty (Hampstead Theatre).
