The Notorious James Sisters will present the new comedy by Pamela Cuming [sic], Deer Season, at the 78th Street Theater Lab Oct. 19-29. The production that premiered in Colorado and is making its New York debut began performances Oct. 12.
In Deer Season, a father of three daughters who lives in a Vermont farmhouse, figuratively buys the farm. His death causes the sibling trio -- comprising a condom artist, a wig/ make-up saleswoman, and a tomboy farmhand -- to return home to settle the estate. Along the way, they confront love, death, and alien probes.
Del Matthew Bigtree directs this offbeat comedy and co-designs the set with So Young Kim. Shane Culkin takes on lighting and sound design, and Andee Kinzy provides costumes. The cast includes Debra Kay Anderson, Abra Bigham, George Brouilette, Delyn Hall, and Keith Perry.
