Classic Arts News DG Releases DVD of Terfel-Fleming Don Giovanni Universal/Deutsche Grammophon's releases this week include a DVD of a 2000 Metropolitan Opera production of Mozart's Don Giovanni starring Bryn Trfel and Ren_e Fleming.
Terfel sings Don Giovanni in his first appearance in the role at the Met, and Fleming is Donna Anna. The cast also includes Paul Gorves as Don Ottavio, Ferruccio Furlanetto as Leporello, Hei-Kyung Hong as Zerlina, Solveig Kringelborn as Donna Elvira, John Relyea as Don Ottavio, and Sergei Koptchak as the Commendatore.

James Levine conducts; the staging is Zefferelli's 1990 production, which was partially revised in 2000.

DG's new releases also include a production of Franco Alfano's Cyrano de Bergerac starring Roberto Alagna and taped at France's L'Opera National de Montpellier. In addition, the label has reissued a 1991 Met production of L'Elisir d'amore starring Luciano Pavarotti and Kathleen Battle, also conducted by Levine.
