News   "Dreamgirls" Soundtrack Tops Billboard 200, Soundtrack and R&B/Hip-Hop Charts
The soundtrack to the current movie musical "Dreamgirls" hits No. 1 on The Billboard 200 album chart.

The soundtrack of the Henry Krieger-Tom Eyen score — released by Music World/Columbia — reaches the top spot in its fifth week on the chart following a jump last week to No. 3.

Featuring stars Beyoncé Knowles, Anika Noni Rose and Jennifer Hudson as the title trio, the album also heads the Top Soundtracks (where the Deluxe Edition also reaches No. 4) and Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums charts.

Over on the Top Cast Album chart, the original cast recording of the Broadway musical — featuring Loretta Devine, Jennifer Holliday and Sheryl Lee Ralph — still enjoys its rebirth. Both the Decca Broadway original 1982 release as well as the recent Hip O/Geffen special edition both hit their third week on the chart.

"Chicago" screenwriter Bill Condon directs and adapts "Dreamgirls" starring Jennifer Hudson as Effie, Beyoncé Knowles as Deena Jones, Anika Noni Rose as Lorrell Robinson, Jamie Foxx as Curtis Taylor Jr., Eddie Murphy as James "Thunder" Early and Danny Glover as Marty.
