News DRG to Release CD By Wicked's Joel Grey Next month DRG Records will release "The Magic of Joel Grey," featuring the vocal work of recent Wicked star Joel Grey.

The recording is actually a compilation of two albums Grey recorded in the 1960's: "Only the Beginning" (1967) and "Black Sheep Boy" (1969). The single CD will boast liner notes by lyricist Fred Ebb as well as thoughts from Grey himself. Grey has also contributed photos from his personal collection for the accompanying CD booklet. In addition to such theatre fare as "Wilkommen" (Grey's Cabaret anthem) and "Who Are You Now?," the recording features mainly pop songs of the era, including works by John Lennon, Paul McCartney, Simon and Garfunkle and others. The complete track listing for "The Magic of Joel Grey," due in stores Sept. 7, follows:

Joel Grey was most recently on Broadway as the Wizard in the hit musical Wicked. He won a Tony Award for his role as the Emcee in the original Broadway production of Cabaret and later repeated the role on film to Oscar-winning effect. Grey's other theatrical credits include roles in Chicago, George M!, Goodtime Charley and The Grand Tour, receiving Tony nominations for all three productions. A Kennedy Center honoree, the actor is also a best-selling author; his book of photographs, "Pictures I Had to Take," is available from PowerHouse Books.
