The production will play the National's Lyttelton auditorium Oct. 30-Nov. 9, following a U.K. tour that kicks off at Nottingham Playhouse on April 11 and visits Cardiff, Oxford, Newcastle, Coventry, Leeds and Salford at various dates through June 28. In the new show, DV8's founder and artistic director Lloyd Newson leads a multi-ethnic cast in what press materials describe as "a poetic but unflinching exploration of tolerance, intolerance, religion and sexuality." The piece is based on hundreds of hours of audio interviews that have been collected throughout the U.K. with people directly affected by these issues. While verbatim theatre has become a regular occurrence, this may be a new form of verbatim dance.
The company comprises Ankur Bahl, Dan Canham, Seke Chimutengwende, Ermira Goro, Hannes Langolf, Coral Messam, Paradigmz, Rafael Pardillo and Ira Mandela Siobhan.
DV8 previously appeared at the National in Just for Show (2005). Other work has appeared at the Royal Court.
