News Eddie Redmayne Wins Desert Palm Achievement Award Tony Award-winning actor Eddie Redmayne, whose new film "The Theory of Everything" arrives in theatres Nov. 7, has been named Best Actor of the Year by the Palm Springs International Film Festival, according to Deadline.com.

Redmayne received the honor of Desert Palm Achievement Award, Actor, one that is considered by many in the industry to factor into predictions when Academy Awards season rolls around.

Redmayne earned the Tony and Olivier Award for his performance in Red. His stage credits also include Richard II; The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?; Twelfth Night; and Hecuba. He has also been seen in "Les Miserables," "My Week With Marilyn" and "Birdsong."

The awards will be presented Jan. 3, 2015, at the Palm Springs Convention Center.
