The McCarter Theater of Princeton, NJ, will honor producer Eric Krebs May 3 at the 11th annual Applause Awards, which laud individuals and groups who make substantial contributions to Garden State theater. Krebs was responsible for bring the McCarter's production of Sophocles' Electra, starring Zoe Wanamaker, to Broadway, where it proved a surprise hit, playing to sell-out audiences from November 1998 through last March. Electra opened at the McCarter on Sept. 15, 1998.

Krebs runs Off-Broadway's John Houseman and Douglas Fairbanks Theatres. Electra was a rare Broadway producing credit for Krebs, who is currently represented on the Great White Way by the revue It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues.
