A gala performance on October 28 includes an open class of students from Feld's Ballet Tech School and a champagne reception.
Feld founded the 14-dancer Ballet Tech company in 1974, and the Ballet Tech School, which is open by audition to New York City public school children and is tuition-free, in 1978. In the summer of 2003, facing funding problems, he announced that he was shutting down the company, which he founded in 1974, in order to keep the school stable and operating.
Feld has choreographed works for Mikhail Baryshnikov, the New York City Ballet, and the American Ballet Theatre, among others. Feld was also instrumental in the creation of the Joyce, a significant presence in modern dance in New York.
