Actor Daniel J. Travanti, best known for his Emmy Award-winning role as Captain Frank Furillo on television's "Hill Street Blues," will head the cast of Jon Maran's Old Wicked Songs at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. Previews for Old Wicked Songs begin May 24. The show opens with the evening performance on May 27 and will run through July 2.

Travanti appeared in the Globe production of The Taming of the Shrew in 1977. His credits include Only Kidding at the Cleveland Playhouse, Les Liaisons Dangereuses at London's Ambassador Theatre, the national tour of I Never Sang for My Father and the American Repertory production of A Touch of the Poet.

Directed by Richard Seer, the two-hander Old Wicked Songs will also feature Peter Smith, who recently starred in the Old Globe production of The Hostage.
