The play titled En el hoyo de las agujas (Inside the Hole of the Needles) opened May 13 in Madrid's Teatro Espanyol where the successful play La Venganza de Don Mendo had been running for almost a year and a half.

Inside the Hole of the Needles is written by Jose Luis Miranda, a well-known Spanish author who also writes poetry and novels. The play was awarded the "Lope de Vega" Theater Award in 1995, which offered the director the chance to have his play performed in the Teatro Espanyol.

This play is a monologue starring actress Victoria Vera, playing the role of Juana de Utrera, a female bullfighter who has to confront various bulls in the arena that afternoon.

In actuality, on May 12, for the very first time, a female bullfighter took the arena, which augments the topic of the play. The theater is located beside the hotel that lodges bullfighters who perform in Madrid's bullfighter arena.

The play is directed by Angel Fernandez, with set design by Pedro Moreno and will run until June 12. En el hoyo de las agujas runs at Teatro Espanyol. 25, Principe Street. Madrid. Subway Station: Sol. Tickets avalaible in Tele-entradas and dialing this phone number: +34 902 383333.
