Theatre producers and Actors' Equity Association are expected to continue negotiating late into the day and into the night if necessary over the new production contract, Equity's leading contract for Broadway work.
Playbill On-Line has learned that both sides are working to avoid a breakdown of the talks and that there has been some movement on the key issue of show schedules, where producers have been trying to add a weekend show and leave Wednesdays dark because the mid-week shows have become a tough sell. Some of the nettlesome issues that remain to be worked out include raked (inclined) stages and LORT (contract) shows that transfer to Broadway.
Specifics about the negotiations are forthcoming but are not available at this time.
Oct 10 is the last scheduled day of production contract negotiations, making this a self-imposed deadline for Equity and the producers.
