Schele Williams stages the production that runs through June 28 in Dayton, OH.
Greaves, who appeared on Broadway in Hairspray and Show Boat and in the recent Old Globe production of Working, stars as Waters with Scot Woolley featured on piano.
The production, which finds a late-in-life Waters late recounting the hardships and successes of her life, includes performances of songs that she helped make classics: "Stormy Weather," "Heat Wave," "Cabin in the Sky," "Sweet Georgia Brown," "Black and Blue," "Taking a Chance On Love" and "His Eye Is On the Sparrow."
The Human Race staging has scenic design by Tammy Honesty, lighting design by John Rensel, costume design by Lowell A. Mathwich and sound design by Matthew Benjamin.
Penned by Larry Parr, Ethel Waters: His Eye Is on the Sparrow was previously presented at the Florida Studio Theatre in 2005 and in 2007 at the Bristol Riverside Theatre.
